Well, it looks the proverbial “tin foil hat” has actually become reality.
Except not really.
While EMF shielding hats are available, they are a far cry from slapping aluminum foil on your head. In fact, these hats are modern, stylish, and look exactly like any other ball cap.
Take a look:
So now you can protect your brain from harmful EMF & RF radiation, and no one will know the difference.
ELIMINATE THE MYSTERY (& OVERWHELM) OF EMF PROTECTION
Get a self-paced, step-by-step path to less EMF in your life—without weighing you down with complicated terminology & information overload.
But do they work? Are they worth it?
Let’s take a look.
Why Would You Want to Wear an EMF Blocking Hat?
This innovative hat is an effective tool for shielding yourself from the dangers of electromagnetic field and radio frequencies, which studies have shown can have a negative impact on the brain.
The term “EMF” stands for electromagnetic fields.
For those of you not familiar with EMF and radio frequencies, here is a breakdown of the dangers they pose to you and your family –
EMF exposure comes from things like:
- power lines (whether above or underground)
- cell towers
- wireless routers
- cellphones
- dirty electricity (results from an imbalance in electrical wiring)
- smart meters
- electric fields (stems from anything that has voltage)
As you can tell by the list above, the average home is exposed to a lot of electromagnetic radiation.
Just think of the things we use every day that fall into the categories above – extension cords, appliances, lamps, electrical wiring and power outlets, etc.
Exposure to EMF can cause harm by inducing:
- neurological and behavioral changes
- chronic fatigue
- cancer
- altered cell growth
- headaches
Check out what Assistant Professor of Clinical Neuroscience Amir Raz has to say. He remains skeptical of any large impact, but even he can’t deny that the possibility for harm is there:
Amir Raz, Assistant Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at Columbia University
“Evidence of health effects from EMF, including their influence on the brain, is inconclusive, and the probability that EMF exposure is a genuine health hazard is currently small. Nevertheless, exposure to high levels of nonionizing energy, such as at radio wave frequencies, can damage the structure and function of the nervous system.”
And in a 2018 study published in the Journal of Psychology and Cognition, it was concluded that based on their observations, long-term exposure to Wi-Fi radiofrequency radiation caused a significant decrease in reaction time and also speed of information processing of the studied male teenagers.
Another long term and alarming effect of EMF exposure is the changes it makes in your brain.
This exposure leads to chronically increased level of free radicals. Free radicals can result in brain damage and aging down to the level of your DNA.
If you’re wondering what free radicals are, they’re unattached oxygen molecules that attack brain cells among others.
Just imagine the effect of rust on metal, and you’ll understand the danger that free radicals pose to your brain.
With increased Wifi and cellphone use growing every day, it’s time we learn how to protect ourselves.
EMF shielding hats provide a stylish and effective way to protect our one of our most vulnerable organs – the brain.
How Do EMF Shielding Hats Work?
These types of hats are crafted with materials that block both electromagnetic frequencies and RF (radiofrequency) radiation.
Such materials include silver, Mylar and copper. Another is the popular Shieldon patented fabric brand.
However, it’s very important to note that you can’t ensure 100% protection. That only happens inside a faraday cage.
Since we can’t walk around in faraday cages, significant reduction in radiation is our goal – not complete eradication.
Ok, back to materials used…
Copper, aluminum, silver and Mylar reduce EMF and RF radiation by scattering or absorbing the photons as they pass through.
Let’s discuss them in detail one by one:
First is copper which is a common material for some items in our kitchen, but it’s also highly effective in shielding or blocking yourself from radio frequency and EMF radiation. Copper for this purpose usually comes in the form of copper mesh.
Next is aluminum.
Aluminum forms a barrier often referred to as a Faraday Cage, which blocks radio waves. This ability is attributed to the fact that aluminum is a conductor of electricity.
And how about mylar?
Yes, it blocks EMF radiation fairly well – it just isn’t the most stylish option. It is inexpensive thought as well as light and convenient. When placed between you and the source of radiation, it can reduce the amount of EMF by 95% or higher.
The #1 Thing to Consider Before Purchasing an EMF Cap: Attenuation Rate
As I mentioned earlier, 100% protection from EMF is not possible with products such as hats. This is where your awareness of attenuation rate comes in.
When shopping in store or online, you need to look for information on the product’s attenuation rate.
Attenuation pertains to the ability of a particular material to cause gradual reduction in force as energy passes through it.
This measurement is usually expressed in dB/km which means decibel per kilometer.
So basically, it’s a method of measuring the shielding performance of clothing or accessories that claim to block radiation.
Keep in mind that the higher the decibel value is the greater the protection you get.
For reference purposes, this is how decibel amounts relate to reduction ability:
- 10 decibels = 90% reduction
- 30 decibels = 99.9% reduction
- 50 decibels and higher = 99.999% reduction
As you can see, even low decibel products provide adequate protection – 90% is acceptable when compared to the alternative of 0% when no shielding is used.
If you’re still curious about EMF hats and if they’re right for you, let’s look at 3 of the best on the market to get your research started
Best EMF Hats Reviewed
1. EMR Shielding Solutions – EMF Radiation Protection Cap
is made with raw materials such as 89% Cotton, 8% Copper, 2% Silver and 1% Lycra. It reduces high frequency RF and EMF radiation by 99.999% – about 47 decibels of protection.
It also blocks low frequency electrical fields from sources such as electrical boxes and wires as well as those from Bluetooth devices and high power transmission lines.
2. LVFEIER Elastic Shielding Cap

In the $30 range, this shielded cap is designed to protect your head from frequencies like those coming from cellular phones. This cap shields your brain from the harmful effects of RF or radio frequency pollution.
The hat is lined up with cotton mixed with micro-fine stainless steel fibers and first class polyester – a combination that provides excellent shielding from radiation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this type of hat need to be grounded?
No, it does not need to be grounded.
Do EMF hats also block RF signals?
Yes, though some block EMF signal alone. But there are those that block both the EMF and RF radiation. Just check the site details before buying.
Will wearing an EMF blocking hat cause problems with security at an airport?
Since these hats may contain silver or copper, it’s best not to wear them when going through a security check at the airport.
Do they require special laundry care?
Yes, they should be washed carefully. Most should be washed gently in cold water and air dried. Some require special detergent. If that’s the case, it will be disclosed on the product website
Is this basically just a glorified tin foil hat?
No, these modern and stylish hats are nothing like wrapping your head in aluminum foil. However, I’m sure there are rip-offs out there where you’d be better off just going with tin foil. That’s why you need to do your research first – and why I wrote this article.
Always look for a stated attenuation rate in the form of measurable decibels. Then, if you decide to order, take before and after measurements with an EMF meter as soon as you receive it. That way, you can return the product (usually within 30 days) if it doesn’t work.
EMF hats are remarkable innovations that can shield your brain from electromagnetic and radiofrequency radiation up to 99.999%.
Still, we should always take a holistic approach to EMF protection – one that is multifaceted and based on removal of radiation sources when possible and distancing ourselves from them when not.
We can’t avoid technology completely, but we can take steps toward reducing our exposure and EMF shielding hats are a great way to do that.

Hi – obviously a cap isn’t practical to wear in bed but does the Shielding Cap have the same protection?
Tks,
Glenys
Hi Glenys,
Yes, it has a high decibel attenuation rate. I also like this bandana fabric for sleeping.
I don’t want to shop on Amazon any more. Can you give a direct link to buy these products that does not involve Amazon?
Hi Kathleen,
I’m sorry I’m just now seeing this comment. If you haven’t already found a place, I get all my clothing and accessories from LessEMF. I use this shielded beanie hat.
How about devices that can be plugged in my room or livingroom to block or shield, reduce radiation? those plugs seen online??? thanks
Hi Bill,
Plug-ins for dirty electricity work (like GreenWave), but I do not use or recommend plug-ins that claim to “harmonize” or “neutralize” ambient radiation in a room as that goes against sound science.
Do you take into account whether the fabric has heavy metals against the skin. I see some hats put the protective fabric inside layers of non-metalic fabric, as the protective fabric has heavy metals.
Hi Sharon,
From what I understand about heavy metals, it’s consuming/drinking them and cooking with them that is the issue. I don’t think the skin would absorb metal from clothing fibers? If that is incorrect, can you please share a study or any sort of evidence that shows we absorb heavy metals from clothing? Because I’d like to learn more about it if that’s the case. Thank you 🙂
If I purchase a hat from your company I will be testing it when I get it,
and if it does NOT cut EMF’s by at least 50% I can return it for a FULL REFUND
CORRECT ?
I do NOT sell any items on my website.
